Careers in Construction Month: Victoria Quick
For Victoria Quick, Electrical Worker, being a #WomanInConstruction “is a lot easier and different than most people think it would be. You’re constantly learning something new, and never not being challenged. I work with an amazing group of team players who are eager and willing to help develop my skills.”
What do you enjoy most about working in the construction industry?
You’re constantly learning something new, and never not being challenged. Since I’ve been working at Corbins, I’ve learned so much, from how to be handier with tools to being able to better read schematics. I value everything that I’ve learned and know that I’m becoming a stronger EW.
Why did you choose a career in the construction industry?
I have a family member who works as a Service Tech here at Corbins. He recommended that I apply because of the skills I have, and my desire to learn. This is one decision, that I don’t regret making!
What would you say to women who have never thought about pursuing a career in the trades?
Working in the trades is a lot easier and different than most people think it would be. I work with an amazing group of team players who are eager and willing to help develop my skills. Each member of my team, wants me to be successful.
What are your career goals?
Right now, I’m focusing on learning. I want to learn as much as I possibly can, so I am the most capable and helpful coworker that I can be. I’m still fairly new in the learning process, but I’m really enjoying it. Even the days I feel that I’m over my head, coming into work puts a smile on my face.
