Women in Construction – Mahea Villanueva

Mahea Villanueva
Safety Professional

“Everything I do is to ensure our crews go home safely to their families. I love getting to serve my purpose and that the impact of my work goes beyond the jobsite.”

“Before I got into Safety, I was a stay-at-home mom, and my husband at the time worked in the construction industry. He would come home and tell me stories about some of the unsafe decisions that were made at his work, and it was really scary.” Those conversations sparked a passion in Mahea to pursue her own career in construction safety. She loves being able to contribute to a safer working environment for the crews on her jobsites and enjoys knowing the impact of her work goes even beyond that. “Everything I do in safety is based off my love for my kids, and that they need their dad to come home every day. When I’m out in the field and I approach the workers, that’s the mentality I have. They have people at home who love them that they need to go home to.” Although she wasn’t looking for a career in construction before that, she says, “I’ve always been intrigued by construction and how peoples’ hands create these amazing structures that we see every day and easily take for granted.”

Mahea is the Safety Manager at one of our major clients’ jobsite, and we couldn’t be more grateful for her contribution to the wellbeing of our PRIDE.  Her smile and positive attitude are contagious, and she exudes these words of wisdom that she shared with us, which is to, “Outshine yourself! Don’t set your bar low.” #corbinsPRIDE #WICweek2021
